AFDO Media Release: AFDO Welcomes Full NSW NDIS Roll Out
AFDO Welcomes Full NSW NDIS Roll Out
The Australian Federation of Disability Organisations (AFDO) today welcomed the announcement of a full roll out of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) in NSW.
“This is a great day for people with disability living in NSW,” said Ms Lesley Hall, AFDO CEO. “Today’s announcement shows that meeting the basic human right to disability support isn’t an issue confined to one term of government or one political party. It’s something we should all be striving for, all the time.”
Ms Hall called on other State and Territory governments to come to similar deals with the Federal government so that people with disability could feel the benefits of a consistent system of support across the country.
“One of the things we know is wrong with the current system is that there are different rules and programs operating across Australia,” she said. “The whole point of an NDIS is to make sure you can get the supports you need no matter where you live.”
