Heather works as a Self Advocacy Project Worker. She supports people with a disability to stand up for their rights. She is interested in helping to support people with a disability to communicate effectively and would like to see more community support for people with disabilities.
Heather is active in many community organisations, including her local community radio station. Heather has worked over many years to become a leader in the intellectual disability field and has completed several leaderships courses and represented self-advocates on many committees, including the Victorian Disability Advisory Committee. She is currently a member of board of the National Council Intellectual Disability, representing the ‘Our Voice Committee’ of which she is chairperson.
