Campaign Enable

I have a disability and I vote. Text of front of Campaign T Shirt

People with disability have an historic opportunity to influence the outcome of the election this year and help deliver policies to enable people with disability to fully participate in society.

Australians with disability have launched Campaign Enable as part of the Australia Fair initiative. AFDO and its members are supporting the campaign.

Campaign Enable’s focus is to secure support from both major political parties for three major policy initiatives:

• Financial help for people with a disability looking for work or trying to keep a job;
• The development of a National Disability Employment Strategy; and
• The introduction of an Access to Premises Standard.

Research shows that people with disability will have a major impact on the outcome of the election. There are 15 electorates where the number of people on the DSP is greater than (or close to) the number of votes by which the seat is held.

Forums are being organised around Australia to demand people with disability have their voices heard above the din of an election campaign.

You can support the campaign by:

1. organising or attending a forum in your local area
2. writing a letter to the candidates in your electorate
3. buying an “I have a disability and I vote” t-shirt
4. joining Australia Fair
