The Australian Federation of Disability Organisations (AFDO) has been established as the primary national voice to Government that fully represents the interests of all people with disability across Australia. Our website is updated regularly, however for the most up to date information please follow us on Facebook.
The Prime Minister's Award for Outstanding Achievement was recently awarded to the late Lesley Hall, AFDO's former CEO. Assistant Minister for Social Services, Senator Mitch Fifield, opened the awards ceremony by listing Lesley's many involvements around disability.
It was a real acknowledgement of Lesley's work over decades, and particularly thrilled Lesley's mother, June and her sister, Annette, who flew to Canberra for the ceremony. A further honour was the renaming of the Minister's Lifetime Achievement in Disability Award to the Lesley Hall Award for Lifetime Achievement in Disability.
The inaugural winners of that award were Ann Proctor from the ACT and John Moxon from NSW.
