The Board of Directors today announced the appointment of Ross Joyce as the new Chief Executive Officer of Australian Federation of Disability Organisations (AFDO).
“We are delighted to appoint Ross as the Chief Executive Officer of AFDO following an extensive national executive search & interview process” said President, Trevor Carroll. “We have been very fortunate in having Ross in the Interim CEO role and believe that his appointment will cement AFDO’s position as the leader in the peak disability consumer advocacy sector.
“Ross brings a wealth of not-for-profit experience, representation of disadvantaged communities and business acumen that will ensure AFDO continues to provide leadership to our Members, Disability Australia, our staff and the sector”.
Ross’ extensive experience includes:
- Long term Director and a passionate advocate for the NDIS at annecto – “the people network” – a national disability, veterans, aged and carers service provider, with 12 years involvement
- Co-Founder & former Executive Director of UrCommunity – a charity focused on improving social inclusion and empowerment – of people with disability, youth, older Australians, refugee and asylum seekers and Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islanders experiencing disadvantage
- CEO of Macedon Ranges Medicare Local, North Western Melbourne Medicare Local and PivotWest, organisations providing primary health care and health planning & services
- CEO of Hume-Moonee Valley Regional Library Corporation
- Executive for Headspace Western and Northern Melbourne, addressing youth mental health
- Principal of Verve – Empowering Solutions – management consultancy to not-for-profit, community service, and small – medium-sized enterprises
